My Lord,

WITH reference to your Lordship's despatch No. 235, Confidential, of the 7th August, 1903, I have the honour to report that at a personal interview on the 10th instant between the Viceroy of Canton and the Acting British Consul-General, the Viceroy stated that definite orders had now reached the Superintendent of Customs from the Board of Foreign Affairs to hand over without delay the two stations of Fatshan and Cheatsun to the Imperial Maritime Customs.
